Scholarships For College - 5 Scholarships That You Can Apply For Right Now

I hear it all of the time. People stating that you can't get a scholarship unless you are some stellar student or star athlete. Well, I am here to tell you that you can get scholarships for college without being the Valedictorian of you class or star quarterback. But if you want a chance at some of that money, you are going to have to enter the contests.
Just as with anything in life, if you want to get something you have to do something to get it. No one will come and hand you some free money for college just because you are a good person or just because you need some cash. Nope, you are going to have to look for and apply for these scholarships if you want any. But just how can you go about finding scholarships and what is available right now?
First, if you are still in high school you need to ask you guidance counselor what scholarships are available to you. They will usually have a list, so this will help you find some. Next, you should ask local businesses such as the power company or even you neighborhood bank. Many times these places will offer scholarships for college students, so it never hurts to ask.
Lastly, you should search the internet. A lot of times you can find scholarships that you might not otherwise hear about just by typing your search into your favorite search engine. And, if you check the recent results daily, you may be able to get a head start on a new scholarship being offered.
For example, here are five scholarships you can apply for right now that I just found:
  1. KFC scholarship.

  2. Olive Garden Scholarship.

  3. Burger King Scholarship.

  4. Cumberland Farms Scholarship.

  5. Denny's Single Parent Scholarship.

While the above is just a short list of some college money available right now, they still offer a great chance at some money, especially if you are in financial need, and who isn't these days.
Once you find some scholarships for college that you think you qualify for, it is time to start applying. Make a print out of each of the scholarships along with the qualifications required. Put this stack in order from the most likely to get to the ones that are a long shot. Then go through your stack and start applying. That way, if you are short on time, you will be able to get your applications in on time for the ones that you have the greatest chance at getting.
And don't worry that you will spend a lot of time applying and not get anything in return. This will not be time wasted, for each time you fill out a scholarship application the next one will be that much easier. And sometimes you will be able to use the same information for multiple scholarships.
