Microsoft Turns Off Autoplay feature in the Latest Windows Update
Microsoft released very important change in the behaviour of Xp and Vista. The latest windows update enables windows not to offer run programs automatically when any external device is attached to computer such as external hard disk, usb drives etc…, means autoplay feature will be turn off forever.
Microsoft is going to do this because autoplay feature became a big security problem on USB media. Malware programs typically search for USB-based storage and write themselves to it. Whenever any hard disk or flash drives attached to the PC, the autorun feature offers to run the malware which is disguised as something to entice the user.
This malicious use has become so common that Microsoft decided to disable this by default.
The update is not shown as a security update but it is rated as Important update so all the windows user with recommended settings for Windows Update will have it installed automatically. If you want to re-enable the feature, Microsoft has also created a Fix It to turn it back on.
