Scholarships For Moms to Return to College

Recently, the President has placed great emphasis on scholarships for moms that want to return to school or begin their goal towards a degree. There are many scholarships available when applying to a college, and the main goal of these are to make college more affordable. Scholarships can be awarded from the government or from private companies or individuals, but for moms to return to school, the government is the biggest giver of scholarships.
There are numerous types of scholarships, which are based on different aspects. The most common types of scholarships are merit-based and needs based. Merit based scholarships are granted because of a person's academic or athletic abilities. Need based are for those who meet certain income guidelines that say whether a person can or cannot pay for their college tuition without assistance. There are also scholarships that are awarded base on race or sex, and those that are awarded based on career choice. Many of the career-based scholarships require a certain amount of work hours to be completed in a semester or year in order to continue receiving the award.
Scholarships play one of the biggest factors in most people's college education. One of the major benefits to being awarded a scholarship is that you are not required to pay back the money as you would with a typical student loan. Another great feature is that most scholarships are recurring and can continue throughout your entire college attendance. Generally, you must reapply each year for financial assistance. Most scholarships also require that you maintain a certain grade point average (GPA) and a minimum amount of credit hours. Scholarships are created to relieve the burden that some parents feel when trying to return to school. They allow for parents to work towards their goals of providing a better life for their families.
With the increase of available online classes that can be taken, there has been a major push from our government to return to school and finish our degrees. Scholarships for moms and other parents have increased in amount up to $5500 for a Federal Pell Grant. These scholarships do not have to be paid back, and can give moms and dads new hope of furthering their career goals. Without scholarships being provided, it's safe to say that the attendance of parents at our colleges and universities would greatly diminish.
