Random Scholarships - Unique Ways to Pay For School

Students that are not academically inclined often find themselves wondering how they will ever be able to afford to attend college. A mistaken belief is that scholarships are only available to those students that have the highest intellect. This belief leads to thousands of young people forgoing college because they cannot afford the expense. This is a waste of potential because there are actually quite a few scholarships available for the middle of the road students. Students do not always have to have the strongest academic record if they can showcase their skills, talent, and ingenuity in other areas.
There are plenty of random scholarships that students can choose from. These include actual scholarships that require a student to apply and qualify before being chosen. These are usually targeted more towards community service endeavors and extracurricular activities. Other scholarships are awarded based on the winners of contests. These are scholarships that can be won by any student, with any academic record. As long as they win the contest, or at least place, they will get a predetermined amount of scholarship funds. Scholarships such as these make it possible for anyone to be able to have a chance to attend the college of their choice.
Some of these unique scholarships include The Calgon Take Me Away to College contest. This is open only to females and the recipients are chosen based on their answers to two essay questions. The School Band and Orchestra Magazine Scholarship is for musicians. It is also awarded based on the answer to an essay question. The American Association of Candy Technologists gives scholarships to students that plan on pursuing an education in confectionery technology. The Tall Clubs International Scholarship is given to males and females that are taller than a certain height and based on their answer to an essay question about being tall.
The Frederick and Mary F. Beckley Scholarship is awarded to left-handed students attending a particular college in Pennsylvania. The Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest is a competition for duck callers and the scholarship funds are awarded to the winners. The Duck Brand Duct Tape Stuck on Prom Contest is given to the winners of a contest consisting of designing their prom attire entirely out of duct tape. The list goes on and on, and it is plain to see that there are hundreds of opportunities for all students across the nation to get their college education funded.
