Local Medical School Scholarships

Medical school scholarships are so many that you may need to spend a large amount of time to be able to apply to all those that you are eligible for. However, there are some scholarships that you should definitely apply for if you are eligible, as they are offered to a very limited amount of students. These scholarships are allocated based on where the student resides. Here are some of these scholarships. However, keep in mind that there are even more, so contact your local agency to get full information on whether your state or county offers such a scholarship for medical students. These scholarships need not be given by the state, but by private funds as well.
One such scholarship program offered to medical school students is the Louis Edward Nicklies Scholarship. However, this program is not only for medical school students. There are a few areas of study that this scholarship is given for, including medicine. The scholarship is given to cover tuition fees, books, or on-campus living expenses. The students must be enrolled in a full-time program to apply for the scholarship. More importantly, it is imperative that the school the applicant attends be located in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Which educational institution the student attends does not play a role in the application process.
Alliance Medical Education Scholarship Fundis another locally based scholarship program for medical school students. Each grantee will be awarded $2,500 with this program. The most important eligibility criterion for this program is being enrolled in a school in the state of Pennsylvania in addition to being a resident of Pennsylvania. The student also needs to be in his or her 2nd or 3rd year of study during the time of application. It is also advisable to keep in mind that the scholarship will apply to the second semester of the next academic year.
You may also apply to Allegheny County Medical Society (ACMS) Medical Student Scholarship if you are a medical school student who is the resident of the state of Pennsylvania. To be eligible for the scholarship, none the less, you need to be the resident of one of the following counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Washington, or Westmoreland. The society awards two students each with a $2,000 scholarship.
Pennsylvania residents have a further opportunity to be awarded a scholarship as a medical school student. Myrtle Siegfried MD and Michael Vigilante MD Scholarship Fund is there to help first year medical students with $1,000 scholarships. The applicants need to be the residents of Berks, Lehigh, or Northampton County. The applicant will need to be enrolled full time in an accredited United States medical school. To submit the application, two references will be needed.
