Medical School Scholarships From Associations

In the United States of America, it is possible to come across many different associations, many of which are related to different fields of Medicine. These associations offer various grants, scholarships and fellowships to students studying Medicine. None the less, most of these associations offer these financial aid programs to students studying in the field of the association. Therefore, the addressees of most of these scholarships are rather restricted. However, there are also scholarships offered to all medical school students by general medical associations. Here are some of the medical associations that offer financial aid to students.
One medical association that provides grants to students is the American Lung Association. There are two award categories of this association: Training Awards and Independent Investigator Awards. Under the Training Awards, it is possible to be granted either $21,000 or $32,500 per year for up to two years for pre-doctoral or post-doctoral studies respectively. Each award has its own research area limitations that need to be considered to be eligible to apply. There are three awards available under Independent Investigator Awards all of which grant $40,000 per year up to two years.
American Parkinson Disease Association might also be helpful to students and scholars in this field. The association offers Medical Student Summer Fellowships to make medical school students have a better understanding in the field of Parkinson's disease and disorders that are related to this disease. The successful candidates will receive a stipend of $4,000 for a three month summer commitment. The association also funds researches, provides research grants and offers post-doctoral fellowships in the field.
American Dental Association Foundation offers awards, grants, fellowships and scholarships to students working towards becoming a dentist. There are two awards available at the foundation. The E. Bud Tarrson Access to Oral Health Care Awardgrants $5,000 to one dental student who reaches out to vulnerable communities. George C. Paffenbarger Student Research Award, on the other hand, is open to students willing to undertake research in the field of contemporary operative dentistry. Allied Dental Scholarships are also for dental students, but they especially aim at funding underrepresented minority students. Dental students should also examine the grant and fellowship schemes of this association to increase their chances of being funded.
